who i am
I go by Ren. In Chinese, ren 人 means person and my parents wished for me to lead a life filled with meaningful human experiences. Today, I travel whenever I can to observe and to interact with other cultures, and as a designer, to broaden the limits of my understandings and aesthetics.

what i do
I design ads, brand identities, and create layouts, packaging, signage, websites, and more. If I don’t know it, I’ll research it; if I don’t understand it, I’ll study it; and if I don’t believe it, I’ll challenge it.

where i LIVE
Home is where the heart is, and my current address is in the greater area of Kansas City. New and exotic places dazzle my senses but nothing compares to the beauty of Kansas City at dusk or the cozy company of family and friends.

why i design
I like pretty things but I love creating seamless solutions that capture both form and function. Obsessing over type and color is oddly comforting, and I keep my creativity strong by expanding my comfort zones and by embracing the momentary whimsy.
